There’s only one word to describe this month… record breaking! We had our biggest transport, longest transport, and most new drivers this month! We continue TNR/A (trap neuter return/adopt) Tuesdays with Catvando. We listened to 30 meowing riders for them this month and can’t wait to see future furry fares! We also had a new driver, Kelly, take one of their kittens to a vet appointment for an injured leg. We love volunteers that allow us to keep serving our community when our core drivers are traveling or working. We have our volunteer application coming on the website soon. Another very familiar drive for us to South Bend, Indiana was up next with our volunteer bottle baby kitten feeder Colleen. 6 pups headed One Tail at a Time and Heartland. The bottle baby joined the party at Heartland as well. Then Rescueber HQ had a slumber party with 2 kittens headed to Our Pack and another kitten duo heading to Lulu’s Locker Rescue.
We got busy nice and early the next day bringing the kitten duo to meet Lulu’s Locker and the other pair of kittens went to a family member for fostering thanks to Our Pack. Added bonus, one got adopted by another family member! We love keeping Rescueber Riders in the family. We then went to pick up two very special pups that headed to the good life at SARA Sanctuary as the Chicago life was a lot for them; they are now loving it down in Texas and living their best lives! Huge shout out to our dynamic driving duo of Jes and David from Real Dog Moms (Dads) of Chicago for driving pups there and back. Speaking of driving back, it was a packed house with two mama and puppy families for a total of 36 canine friends headed to rescue with Mutts of the Midway, Heartland, and One Tail at a Time. We then got some Chicago dog magic with Twyla from K94Keeps. She sang us songs the whole way to foster and is now getting all the cuddles from her foster bro! We got a call from the lovely Castle Blackpaw Autumn who needed a community kitty that jumped into her car (she picked the right car) that needed a ride to Catnap. We happily welcomed her aboard!
Some of our Texas riders and the car kitty! And a special photo session with Andrea from Adventure Satos.
Another new driver duo took a drive south to Louisiana and brought back 15 of your future best friends for Fetch Rescue Wisconsin. Cats were filling our Indiana and Michigan intake partners locations and they sent a big request for help to make room for other incoming animals. A request that was 55 animals big!! 12 pups headed to One Tail at a Time, Fetch Wisconsin Rescue, and a little buddy for Wishbone Rescue that headed on his second leg to Central Illinois with the fabulous Colleen! The 43 kitties were rescued by St Sophia’s and Animal Care League. That moment, we really realized the giant impact having a van with room to save so many at risk lives thanks to our rescue partners!
We couldn’t stay away from our South Bend Humane Society friends and came back a few days later to give two handsome huskies, a lovely lady pup needing emergency surgery headed to One Tail at a Time. Joining them in the van, 12 feline friends headed to Catnap, Lulu’s Locker, and St Sophias. Closing out the month with more cat copilots, 2 tiny kittens and 3 adult cats headed to Catnap and St. Sophias!
For our stats friends, that is 16 trips for 176 of your future best friends on the road a total of 5,761 miles thanks to 12 rescue partners! We are also thankful to our donors. With all of you we have been able to do most of these transports for no cost to the rescues. Saving funds can mean more lives saved to put to medical needs and supplies! Stay tuned for a book release, Bingo, and a trivia night fundraiser coming soon for more fun ways to support Rescueber!
