We have had quite a month, much like all of the world at this point. With so many people sheltering in place, dogs and cats have been welcomed into so many homes! We were happy to be a part of 22 transports for 35 animals with a whopping total of 1,565.7 miles! Our first March transport was Coco with Second City Canine Rescue (SCCR). She hitched a ride from Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) to meet her foster parent at the vet. She was comfy with her new fleece blanket (we always need more of those, they are on our wishlist if you’d like to send one to our riders). We also got to give some rides to our foster, Joanna also from Second City including to and from her spay surgery; as well as to her ADOPTION! We mentioned that we are starting some long distance transports for our rescue partner Alive Rescue and we picked up a sweet crew including Travis and a Mama with her pups! We also got to visit Young at Heart’s senior adoption center where Raisin is now getting the best cuddles. We loved our tour and meeting all their dogs and cats.
We had a Rescueber first with a fish rider! The fish landed a clean new tank at Friends of Petraits, an amazing agency that rescues small animals (like bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, and fish) as well as some pups and kitties too! It was very cool to see her space and she is a professional photographer too so she takes the best pictures of them for their profile pics. We volunteered on a C.R.I.S.P. shift with our Mutts of the Midway friends and one of the dogs that was awaiting rescue got scooped up Wolfie and headed to One Tail at a Time. We headed back to CACC a Meatloaf to rescue at Chicago Canine Rescue. We got another call from Second City Canine Rescue that two new friends needed a ride to meet their fosters at the vet office and we happily rode right over! That day we went right back to CACC for our next trip of the day to Heartland Animal Rescue with Lucky Charms joining their crew! P.S. she’s already ADOPTED! Whoo hoo! As we were headed home One Tail at a Time needed one more friend, so we headed to CACC for our third time and brought this beauty back to their center after enjoying some Happy Dog Barkery stew.
The next week we got to enjoy the kisses of Solo, rescued by MCP Rescue. Kayak got to be welcomed into the growing One Tail at a Time family as well! We did another out of state transport giving 7 Indiana kitties some comfy foster homes thanks to St. Sophia’s Forgotten Feline Rescue. We got to drive the smooshiest love, Tanner, from Animal Care League for a vet visit and back to her foster home, who are also some great friends and supporters of Rescueber! Some rides are scary and hard, including a puppy rider that needed emergency care due to parvo, thanks to Fetching Tails Foundation for giving her a chance.
We would like to give a shout out to all the vets serving the community rescues as safely as possible.
It’s always an adventure seeing who Our Pack Animal Rescue Inc. welcomes into their foster homes and Viper did not disappoint. We had some more cat fun with Claudio headed to a new foster and 2 kittens heading to get all big and strong with Lulu’s Locker Rescue! We headed back up to Wisconsin for another Our Pack Animal Rescue Inc. member, Seamus, the ultimate snuggler! Our March ended with the hippo perfection Wallace with a first time foster for Players for Pits.
We are so thankful of a community that stepped up when rescues needed it most and keep all the pics coming of your new fosters and adoptees!
