A fluffy beauty got a freedom ride to foster with St Sophia’s Feline Rescue. We decided to have some fun this month and had a special “copilot” of a Ellen DeGeneres cut out to keep an eye on my driving and our riders. Cass the beagle from Lulu’s Locker Rescue was the first rider Ellen watched for us! She needed a lift home after being at the vet for some tests and we were excited to see her again (she rode with us in January as well). We rested for a few days and then got to meet Lila who was diverted from having to stay overnight at the intake facility thanks to the C.R.I.S.P. and Fetching Tails Foundation! One of our favorite trips are adoptions and we got to be a step in the first leg to Butch and Sundance, from Lulu's Locker Rescue, on the way to their forever home. Our tiniest senior rider, Harold, also from Lulu's Locker made our hearts explode from cuteness on his freedom ride to his iso (isolation) foster. We needed a little break from Chicago, so why not transport? We joined Jen from Second City Canine Rescue to transport 15 lucky pups up North to foster homes. I was lucky enough to foster one of those riders for 3 weeks and loved every minute with Joanna! She is now in a very loving adoptive home that is honoring my one picture a week rule. Haha!
This Valentine’s Day was one of our favorites as we helped bring joy to donors that wanted a puppy snuggle. Mutts of the Midway partnered with us to raise over $250 dollars for future riders and we loved every bit of seeing the smiles of our three visits over two days! We will definitely arrange some puppy and kitten snuggle hours with our rescue partners in the future! Become a donor and subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know about these special events! Another special Valentine’s Day sponsorship we were able to do was for Lou, a long term dog at an intake facility. A volunteer took him on a date for Valentine’s Day and we got to provide the treats from our favorite pet store Happy Dog Bakery! Lou has since been adopted! We were back on Caturday to transport a pregnant mama cat to Catnap from the Heart. We got to be reunited with Harold from Lulu's Locker Rescue as we took him from his iso foster to his longer term foster. We also have tried to grow our relationships with animal control facilities that might have animals that need a ride to treatments. George from Oak Forest Animal Control was our first pup rider in this type of partnership! He swooned everyone at the vet office and has since been rescued and we get to see him again soon for rides to the remainder of his treatments! Joanna, my foster from Second City Canine Rescue, needed a quick ride to the vet for some medicine and was showing off with her sit and paw commands making the vet’s day! We celebrated Mardi Gras joining with our Happy Dog Barkery friends to deliver paczkis that customers donated to some lucky pups at CACC with our volunteer Colleen.
We picked up Bravado after closing hours at the intake facility for MCP Rescue and head to foster as he had a serious respiratory infection and wasn’t eating. He is recovering well in that foster’s home! We finished up the month with two more transports, another fun Cat Friday back to Heartland Animal Rescue with 7 new friends and a nighttime ride with a handsome hairy dude headed to Fetching Tails Foundation! Thanks to all those that purchased merchandise helping us afford gas month and some needed supplies this month! We also want to make sure every knows about our upcoming events this month St. Pietricks Day with Real Dog Moms of Chicago and Bucktown Pub on March 17th and our March Madness Watch Party on March 20th!
