We had to finish 2020 on a high note and we did just that with 9 trips joined by 186 December riders!  Volunteer driver and new board member Colleen trekked to Ohio (our 11th state) for a senior hospice rottie named Gramps. They then headed to Doggy had Soul Sanctuary and scooped up six kitties for Catnap from the Heart and Feline Fine Rescue.

We took our final 2020 trip to our friends in Monroe, Louisiana and celebrated our 1000th rider, Nacho. A pup that had been at the shelter for over 4 years and was rescued (and since adopted!) thanks to Our Pack Animal Rescue Inc.  Nacho traveled with 45 fur friends including a mama kitten and her babies and a special senior! All these riders headed to Lakeshore PAWS, Wishbone, Catnap from the Heart, One Tail at a Time, Heartland, Lulu’s Locker, and Paws and Claws rescues.
It’s no secret that the founder, Rachel, has a favorite type: seniors!  A nice drive to Berrien County, Michigan brought us to Noel, a special soul that was snuggles and wiggles the entire way to her rescue Young at Heart.

Life saving actions quickly jump into place when small rural shelters are alerted about hoarding cases. Thanks to the openness of so many feline rescues, this month we were able to transport 70+ cats from 3 separate hoarding situations. Better together is truly defined in these moments so that all those lives were saved. Thank you to St. Sophia’s, Feline Fine, One Tail at a Time, Catnap, Precious Pets, NAWS, and Paws and Claws for your partnership in the #nokill2025 goal created by Best Friends Animal Society.
A few more canine crew members joined the kitties including senior star, Harley, and headed to new rescue partner Border Tails and two dog bros headed to Fetch Wisconsin Rescue. Our final pup of 2020, Charlie, galloped over to Feline Fine Rescue! Keep the cat vibes going we did a couple vet runs for Catvando and go two paws up from Merle, John, and Stephen.
We also have a long awaited moment and received our printed copies of Harold Lou Rescues Too, a children’s book all about rescue and 100% of proceeds support rescue rides thanks to all of your support with our Kickstarter.  Get your copy today! We also got to learn and support our community with a donated massage from Wellness and Wags for a special foster (now adopted) Mr. Pibb with Players for Pits.

We finished up the month with our community partner Paw Salvation and Castle Blackpaw at a food pantry and delivering meals to those facing homelessness with their pets and with MASK Chicago handing out copies of our book with Dreezy Santa!  Because of all your support for our riders and community partnering, we are so grateful for all our growing and new relationships in 2020!  Celebrate all this and hear the 2021 plans for more at our first annual Barkmitzvah Gala on February 6th!
